At Sunrock Distributed Generation (SDG), we broadly embrace the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) set by the United Nations. In particular we directly contribute to the following goals:
#7: Affordable and Clean Energy
Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
SDG’s vision is to evolve solar & distributed generation into a cornerstone of economic growth for businesses of all sizes, making it an accessible & efficient solution for all. By developing, financing, and operating solar and storage projects across the country through our network of trusted partners & installers, we enable access to democratized energy solutions for local communities & organizations of all sizes.
#8: Decent Work and Economics Growth
Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
We at SDG are proud to create green jobs not only at our company but with our EPC and developer partners and the local communities we serve. The transition to solar not only benefits the planet but also has created over 263,000 American jobs at more than 10,000 companies in every U.S. state per SEIA.
#9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Demand for electricity will continue to go up exponentially with data centers, AI, and more. Electricity consumption in the U.S. is expected to increase by approximately 50% by 2036 and more than double by 2050 (compared to a 2020 baseline). SDG’s work to scale existing technologies with solar, storage and virtual power plant (VPP) solutions to address the burgeoning energy demands is essential to addressing climate challenges.
#10: Reduced inequalities
Reduce inequality within and among countries
Our work focuses on helping smaller business and local communities get access to distributed energy and enjoy cost savings and energy independence, addressing a previously underserved segment of the population.
#11: Sustainable cities and communities
Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
There are many public health and safety benefits for communities that adopt solar. Getting energy from a carbon-free fuel source reduces the need for traditional power plants and power lines, as well as the need to transport fossil fuels and disturb natural habitats, and reduces air pollution. It also provides the city / community with backup power and energy independence if there are disruptions to centralized power sources.
